Description
This red rye winter beer is named after Ragnar Lothbrok, a legendary Viking hero and ruler who is known from the Viking Age Old Norse Sagas. Ragnar distinguished himself in many raids against Francia and Anglo-Saxon England during the late 8th/early 9th century, starting with his raid on Lindisfarne in 793. Captured by King Aella of Northumbria, the sagas say Ragnar was executed by being cast into a pit full of snakes. The Great Heathen Army that invaded the northeast of England in 865 was led by five sons of Ragnar Lodbrok to wreak revenge against King Aella. The sons were Ivar the Boneless, Ubba, Bjrn Ironside, Hvitserk and Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye, and the rest as they say is history.
