*CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT*

As an industry we face an unprecedented threat in the face of the current uncertainty caused by Coronavirus. As with many breweries we are now shutting down production until the situation becomes clearer. We have one last batch of beer in tanks ready to package and sell. Understandably our usual distribution partners in the UK and Europe cannot currently take any beer from us. We have therefore taken a decision to offer our beer direct to pubs and bars at a heavily discounted rate prior to shut down through EeBria. The reasons for this are two-fold:

1. Cash flow back into the business. As a brewery we are small with very little external finance and we are as well placed as we can be to weather the storm. However, we do not have a tap room nor do we do huge amounts of small pack, sell through our website or (generally) sell directly to local pubs. Distribution through wholesalers is our only source of income and we need to recoup some cash to pay outstanding ingredients and packaging invoices. Selling at a loss is better than having zero income for however long we are in limbo;

2. We started our Odyssey in beer running a small, independent bar that we set up in an old laundrette. We believe (and we have stated time and again) that independent venues are the lifeblood of our industry. We want to do our part, however small, to help. We hope that by providing good quality beer at a much lower than usual price we will help some venues.

Finally, our thoughts are with everybody from brewery owners to bar staff, landlords to draymen and simply to anybody in the hospitality business. It is a worrying, stressful time be kind to one another.
