Originally founded in 1702 in Kilkenny Ireland but lost on a bet on a horse race in Deauville France in 1918 by a young Master Sullivan who didn’t have the same love for the art of brewing as his family before him.
Sullivan’s brewery was then sold to Smithwick’s to pay for this huge gambling debt. Upon the closure of the Smithwick’s brewery in 2013, direct descendants of these 2 great Kilkenny brewing families set a plan in motion to bring great brewing back to Kilkenny. After taking the USA by storm, Sullivan’s are about to launch their attack on the UK.
