Stonehouse Brewery

Shropshire

Stonehouse Brewery is a family run brewery. All of our beers are brewed by traditional handcrafted methods and we are committed to providing great cask beer, in the best possible condition. For this reason, our cask beer is rarely seen more than 30 miles from Oswestry.

The brewery is still a small family business, which has created jobs for ten people since our start-up in 2007. The business was set up by Shane and Alison Parr, with lots of help from Iain and Anne Reid (Alison’s parents) and Innes Reid (Alison’s brother).

Our brewing plant capacity has been upgraded over the years and now is now 100 brewer’s barrels (28,800 pints) per week, which allows us to meet demand during peak periods. It consists of second-hand vessels customised to form our liquor tanks and copper. Our open top fermenters and mash tun were custom built by Fabdec in Ellesmere. Most of the brewery parts and accessories, such as the sparge-arm condenser and automated cask-washer, were designed and built by our very own on-site engineer, Iain.

In 2013 we constructed a purpose-built, energy efficient brewhouse, and although we have seen a lot of interest in our products since winning a national gold award at SIBA, we are firmly committed to not taking over the world.
