Our orchards are in an idyllic part of Somerset, often thought of as apple and cider country. We take great pride in our cider being an artisan product and created from 100% juice of apples. We won’t do like those making the majority (c.90%) of ciders and ferment really quickly with added sugar, and then dilute to end up with a drink contains not much over the legal minimum 35% “cider”.
Our orchards are in an idyllic part of Somerset, often thought of as apple and cider country.
In 1995 we planted 60 trees to renovate an old orchard with few of the original cider trees remaining. We planted mostly cider varieties with a few dessert and cooking apple trees.
In 2016 we increased the tree count by planting 515 trees which are dessert and cooker varieties in 2 adjoining fields.
Spring (2020): we have planted another 200 trees - 40 are cider apples, 160 dessert varieties.
The orchards are criss-crossed by various old footpaths.
