After 21 years working as a data network specialist for a major pharmaceutical company, John's role was made redundant, prompting him to consider a new career. Having always been passionate about local produce, when John discovered the cider maker at Brogdale Farm was considering retirement, he was immediately interested. Working at the home of The National Fruit Collections gives us access to an enormous variety of apples and pears, enabling us to produce a fabulous range of craft ciders. Many years ago, the leftover pommace from cidermaking was fed to the Butcher of Brogdale's pet Mangalitsa Pigs. These beautiful animals, with their sheep like woolly coats, gave our ciders their name. We now produce several variations but our main dry still cider will always be "Woolly Pig".
