PIG BEER
Hampshire
We're two brothers and a cousin who share more than a surname - we all love good beer. So we created PIG BEER at a former pig smallholding, in the heart of the New Forest. We don't have any pigs, but we do have a microbrewery and our very own hop plantation, so our flavours are truly unique and our brewing is more sustainable. Our beers are light, refreshing, and perfectly carbonated. Ultimate Refreshment in a glass.
Sustainability is important to us at PIG BEER, so we're always on the lookout for ways to reduce the environmental impact of brewing.
A few examples of this in action:
- To reduce the amount of water wasted a 19,000 litre grey water harvesting tank has been installed to allow all safe water from the brewing process, plus collected rainfall, to be used to irrigate our hop plantation.
- An onsite hop plantation means shorter distance travelled by our ingredients, unique flavours, and less water wasted - all leading to a lower environmental impact and carbon footprint.
- All our electricity is purchased from renewable sources.
-The gas that we use is carbon offset.
- At events single use plastic is avoided by using reusable glasses, or compostable cups.
- Where disposables can't be avoided, we exclusively use compostable products, made from natural plant materials.
- We have developed an innovative process for ensiling our spent grain to enable it to be stored for long periods of time before being used as feed for cattle, and we provide our yeast by-product to local farms to be used as pig feed.
- Customers are able to fill into their own containers or our flasks/growlers. We are also launching a novel reusable packaging concept to enable customers to enjoy our product in the freshest possible way, without generating any packaging waste.
